Application and work scope
A pet food pouch brief should identify the product before it specifies the film. Dry food, treats and wet products can have different packing and storage requirements. These notes describe the inputs for an application review, not a single structure for every pet food.
Include the fill weight, pouch dimensions, intended opening or reclosure and the filling process.
Set the product and handling requirements
State the shelf-life target and storage conditions. If the filled pack will undergo heat processing, make the process conditions explicit before material selection. Identify any barrier targets and the methods used to assess them.
Describe how the filled pack will be handled and shipped. For a reclosable pouch, distinguish the original sealed package from its intended use after opening.
Prepare the production handover
Confirm the pouch drawing, structure and artwork version together. Check the positions of graphics, codes, seals and closure features. Agree the colour reference and any sample needed before cylinder preparation.

Agree the trial evidence
Define any seal, leak, drop or handling assessment in the order requirements. A useful report identifies the pack, whether it was filled, the sample count, method and acceptance criteria.
